What Does P0340 Mean?
P0340 indicates a malfunction in the camshaft position sensor circuit. This sensor tells the ECM the position of the camshaft for fuel injection and ignition timing.
Critical Sensor
Without a proper camshaft position signal, the engine may not start at all, or may run very poorly with misfires.
Sensor Location
The cam sensor is typically located near the camshaft, either in the valve cover area or near the timing cover, depending on engine design.
