If the temperature warning appears, pull over somewhere safe and follow the owner's manual. Steam, coolant smell, or a gauge continuing to climb are reasons to shut the engine off and get help.

Do not remove a hot radiator or expansion-tank cap. The system can remain pressurized and release scalding coolant even after the car stops.
