To understand a cooling fan that cycles often, compare it under normal, safe conditions: cold versus warm, idle versus steady speed, and light versus higher load. Note ambient temperature, A/C use, traffic speed, and the temperature gauge. Change one condition at a time so the result stays useful.
Do not create a risky test just to reproduce it. Check coolant only when cold and follow the manual; make sure the radiator area is not obstructed.
